Microscope 553 was probably made in France in c. 1900. The maker is unknown. This instrument is featured in the 1929 catalogue of the firm E. Vion (Figure 1), where it was named “Microscope colonne penchée. The same instrument is also featured in the 1900 catalogue of E. Deyrolle (Figure 1), where it was designated “Microscope à renversement Modèle F”.
